Brunfelsia passiflora plant is a native plant of South America which is also known as raintree in Brazil. In spring it blooms in abundance. Apart from this, flowers keep appearing throughout the year when the weather is favourable. The best thing is that this plant is not only beautiful to look at but will also fill your home with fragrance. Especially it smells very good at night. Now know how to grow it.
Prepare soil and pot
For the Brunfelsia passiflora plant, you need fertile but slightly acidic soil, which has a little more organic matter and has proper drainage. To prepare the soil, take 2 parts garden soil, 1 part organic or vermicompost, 1 part sand or perlite, 1 part cocopeat or pitmoss. Prepare soil by mixing all the things. To increase acidity, you can add a little tea leaf compost. Fill this soil in a pot and fill a little of it in a plastic bag for grafting.
Growing and care is easy
It is not very difficult to grow this plant or take care of it. It thrives well in tropical climate i.e. hot weather. Although it likes sunlight that comes in a stream, this plant can survive in direct sunlight also. During scorching heat, one should try to keep this plant at a place where there is shade from a tree or other slightly taller plants are planted along with it.

To grow Brunfelsia pauciflora, you will need a mature branch at least 8 inches long, that is, it should be hard to touch. For this you have to break all the leaves of the cutting and leave only the top two leaves. Make an oblique cut at the bottom and then place it in a small plastic bag filled with prepared moist soil. If you are using rooting hormone then you have to dip the cutting part in it and after that plant it in the soil.
Plant it at least at a depth of three inches. After this, cover the cutting with a plastic bag, but keep in mind that this bag should not touch the cutting. You can also use a chopstick for support. Keep it in light light, due to which roots will emerge in 4-5 weeks. Then you can take it out from the bag and plant it in a pot.

Along with keeping the plant healthy, if you want it to bear lots of flowers, then you should keep fertilizing it from time to time. For this, use phosphorus rich fertilizer. Insects like spider mites suck the nutrition from the leaves of the plant, to avoid this, along with watering the roots of your plant, spray it lightly on the leaves as well. Apart from this, keep spraying neem oil. Apart from this, just keep watering regularly so that the proper moisture is maintained in the soil, but it does not become like mud.

Generally this plant grows very well and you do not need to do much cutting or pruning. Just keep removing yellow leaves and withered flowers so that other flowers can grow. If you want to adjust its shape according to your garden or pot, then the branches can be cut from time to time accordingly.
