New Delhi [भारत]July 19 (ANI): A meeting with leaders of political parties was chaired by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh at the Parliament House complex in New Delhi on Sunday to discuss issues related to the upcoming monsoon session 2026 of Parliament. This meeting was called by Union Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju. The meeting was also attended by Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare and Chemicals and Fertilizers Jagat Prakash Nadda, who is also the Leader of the House in the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Law and Justice and Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Arjun Ram Meghwal and Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and Information and Broadcasting L Murugan. Overall, 58 leaders from 40 political parties, including ministers, participated in the meeting.
Monsoon session will start from July 20, 19 meetings will be held
At the beginning of the meeting, Singh made introductory remarks and welcomed all the leaders attending the meeting, after which the Parliamentary Affairs Minister conducted the meeting. He informed the leaders that the Monsoon Session of Parliament, 2026 will commence on Monday, 20 July and subject to exigencies of government business, the session may end on Thursday, 13 August. There will be a total of 19 meetings in this session of 25 days duration.
Government ready for discussion, parties assured cooperation
Rijiju further informed that the legislative business for the upcoming monsoon session has already been published in Bulletin Part-II by both the secretariats of Parliament on July 16. He requested cooperation from all leaders for the smooth functioning of Parliament and said the government was ready to discuss any other important issue in the Houses as permitted under the rules of procedure of both the Houses of Parliament. Leaders of various political parties expressed their views on various issues to be raised during the upcoming monsoon session of Parliament and assured cooperation to the government.
The Parliamentary Affairs Minister took note of all the issues raised by the leaders and thanked all the leaders for attending the meeting, expressing their views and for their active and effective participation.
