The coordination of science and Vedic knowledge was emphasized in the ‘Mahakal: The Master of Time’ conference held in Ujjain. Experts asked Ujjain to implement MST instead of Time Calculation Center and GMT.

Bhopal/Ujjain. April 3 was a special day not only for Madhya Pradesh but for the entire country. On this day, scientists, scholars and thinkers from India and abroad participated in the international conference ‘Mahakal: The Master of Time’ organized in Ujjain. During this, coordination of astronomy, modern science and Vedic knowledge was discussed in detail. Experts said that true development is possible only when spirituality is linked with science. For this, it is necessary that Vedic knowledge be combined with modern science and youth should be connected with science on a large scale.

Discussion on making Ujjain the global center of time calculation.

In the conference, emphasis was laid on establishing Ujjain as a time calculation city and promoting Mahakal Standard Time (MST) in place of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). The program was organized at the Planetarium Complex in Ujjain, where Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav inaugurated it. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and thinker Suresh Soni were also present with him.

Launch of development projects for Simhastha 2028

During the program, Bhoomi Pujan of several major projects was performed keeping in mind Simhastha-2028, which include:

  • 19.80 km long 4 lane bypass (Cost: ₹701.86 crore)
  • Samrat Vikramaditya Heritage Project Extension (₹22.52 crore)

Apart from this, the website of Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan 2026-27 was launched and science related books were also released.

CM Mohan Yadav: Ujjain is a city of both science and religion.

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that Ujjain is not only a religious city but also an ancient center of science, mathematics and astronomy. Here, centuries ago, the technique of measuring time from the Sun’s shadow was developed. He told that in ancient times, Ujjain was considered to be the middle point of the earth and the zero longitude line also passed here. When the world was learning the calculation of time, the scholars of Ujjain were pioneers in astronomical calculations.

Time and Universe: Relation of Science and Shiva

CM said that science believes that time and space are related to each other. In our scriptures also, Shiva has been described as Mahakaal i.e. the lord of time, which reflects this scientific truth.

Ujjain Science City and future plans

The Chief Minister talked about developing Ujjain as a science city. He informed that the Science Center has been inaugurated at a cost of more than Rs 15 crore. Preparations are on to establish Simhastha 2028 on a global level, in which around 40 crore devotees are expected to come.

Dharmendra Pradhan: Need to revive Indian knowledge tradition

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that places like Ujjain, Kashi, Kanchi and Puri are centers of knowledge, science and culture. He said that western countries ignored Indian knowledge, but now is the time to re-establish it. He also said that in today’s time, the power of war is not measured by army, but by drones and space technology.

Suresh Soni: Modern form of discovery of Indian sages

Thinker Suresh Soni said that Indian sages had calculated time and named the planets, which today the world adopts as Sunday-Monday. He said that it is necessary to balance art and spirituality with science.

Coordination of Vedic knowledge and modern science is necessary

NITI Aayog member VK Saraswat said that earlier the Zero Meridian used to pass through Ujjain, but this information is not given in today’s education. He said that Vedic knowledge should be combined with modern science and presented to the world.

Emphasis on connecting youth with science and innovation

The conference also said that India will have to focus on science, technology and self-reliance to create a $30 trillion economy. It is very important to connect the youth with scientific thinking.

Effort to revive Indian scientific tradition

National Coordinator of Indian Knowledge System, Dr. S. Ghanti Murthy said that the objective of this event is to revive the Indian scientific tradition. More than 1000 students participated in it and discussions were held on science, space, drones and security.
