The ongoing tension in the Middle East is increasing day by day. President Trump is making such statements from time to time, due to which the waning heat of war increases again. In the same environment, in India too, the prices of commercial gas cylinders have increased by about Rs 200 from the 1st, due to which food in hotels may become expensive in the coming days.
Following the recent hike in LPG cylinder prices, the Hotel and Restaurant Association of Western India (HRAWI) said hotels and restaurants, already under pressure due to the West Asia war, are looking at increasing food prices to compensate for the nearly 20 per cent increase in their expenses.
HRAWI spokesperson Pradeep Shetty said that the expenses of the hotel industry have increased significantly since the beginning of the struggle on February 28. The main reasons for this are frequent closures, reduced working hours, changes in menu and adoption of other methods of cooking.
He said that along with this there has also been a decline in business, due to which the entire business has been affected. Due to all these reasons the total expenditure has increased by about 20 percent. Shetty said that the recent increase in the prices of commercial LPG cylinders has put further pressure on the already declining profits. In such a situation, hotels and restaurants are not left with much option other than increasing food prices to handle the rising expenses.
