In Bihar, 9 lakh women are trapped in microfinance loans. Congress MP Akhilesh Singh said that he is receiving threats for recovery. If the government is formed, he has promised to provide relief to women by confiscating the properties of mafias.

Patna: Amidst the hustle and bustle of the first phase of Bihar Assembly elections 2025, Congress MP Akhilesh Singh has made a serious revelation about the microfinance loan crisis affecting women in the state. He said around 9 lakh women are stuck with outstanding loans of an average of ₹20,000. Akhilesh Singh warned that incidents of threats and violence in the name of extortion are continuously increasing, and immediate action will be taken on this issue if the Grand Alliance government comes to power. He says that the property of the mafia will be confiscated and women will be given relief.

Crisis on women of Bihar

The MP said that this crisis is directly affecting the lives of women of Bihar. Due to dues, mental and financial pressure on women is continuously increasing. Many cases have come to light in which women are being threatened or facing violence in order to extort money. He said, “We will take immediate action on this as soon as the grand alliance government is formed. Women will get justice and no other woman will have to face such a crisis.”

Mafia’s property will be confiscated

Akhilesh Singh put the loan mafia in the dock and said that these are the same people who are trapping women in financial slavery. He said that he talked about canceling records, audit and fake registries against land mafia. A special task force will be formed for sand mafia and drone monitoring will be done. Strict border monitoring will be implemented for liquor waivers and e-tendering will be mandatory for contract waivers. If caught, a criminal case will be registered.

Akhilesh Singh said that paper security will be tightened for the education mafia and there will be complete transparency and strict action against the recruitment mafia. Mining licenses for mining mafia will be reviewed and illegal earnings will be confiscated. To stop health mafias, e-tendering will be mandatory in public health procurement and punitive action will be taken against guilty companies/individuals.
