8th Pay Commission: If the demand is met, the salary will be this much, government employees will be happy

The stir regarding the 8th Pay Commission for Central Government employees has intensified. The meeting of the drafting committee has started in New Delhi from 25th February, in which the suggestions received on the salary and allowances of the employees are being discussed. Employee organizations have demanded a big increase in salaries this time.

If these proposals are accepted, everyone from peon to senior officer can get huge benefits. The maximum salary is expected to go above Rs 6 lakh.

Big jump in maximum salary?

The Federation of National Postal Organizations has suggested to the drafting committee that the maximum salary should be increased from Rs 6,57,300 to Rs 8,12,500. This proposal has been given on the basis of new fitment factor and change in salary structure. If this is implemented, there may be a big increase in the salaries of officers holding higher positions.

Demand to triple the minimum wage

Employee organizations have suggested increasing the entry level salary from Rs 18,000 to Rs 54,000. For this it is recommended to keep fitment factor 3. This will lead to a big increase in the income of lower level employees. This demand has been made in view of rising inflation and cost of living.

Preparation to reduce pay inequality

The organization says that the ratio of minimum and maximum salary should be between 1:8 or 1:9. In the 7th Pay Commission, this ratio was 1:14, due to which there was a huge difference in the salary. The aim of the new proposal is to reduce this gap and make the salary structure more balanced.

Multi-level fitment factor suggestion

The employee organization has proposed to implement multi-level fitment factor from 3.00 to 3.25. This suggestion is based on the Akroyd Formula, in which the minimum salary is decided based on the needs of a family of four. According to the report of Financial Express, if this is implemented then there may be a big jump in the basic salary of employees from level 1 to level 18. The minimum salary can reach Rs 54,000 and the maximum salary can reach Rs 8,12,500.

What will happen next?

The drafting committee will review all the suggestions for a week and prepare the final memorandum. After this this proposal will be submitted to the 8th Pay Commission. The Commission will consider these recommendations and give the final decision. Besides, the Commission has also started the recruitment process for posts like Director and Under Secretary. This indicates that the process is progressing rapidly and a big decision may come in the coming time.
