After the formation of the 8th Central Pay Commission, the Government of India has sought suggestions and proposals from employees, pensioners and organizations. The government has issued a public notice in this regard. According to the notice, the Central Government had constituted the 8th Central Pay Commission through a resolution on 3 November 2025. The objective of the commission is to review the structure related to salary, allowances and pension of central government employees and pensioners.
The Commission has asked employee unions, pensioner organizations, institutions and interested persons to submit their demands and suggestions online. For this, an online form has been made available, which can be filled on the Commission’s website and MyGov portal. The Commission has clarified that all proposals will be accepted only through the online portal. Suggestions sent by post, e-mail or in PDF form will not be considered. According to the public notice, suggestions and proposals can be submitted till 30 April 2026. After this, the commission will study the suggestions received and prepare further recommendations.
Basic salary can increase by this much
If the government accepts the demands of the employee unions, then there may be a big increase in the salaries of central government employees and pensioners. According to the proposal, the basic salary of government employees can increase by about 66%. This will not only increase the salary, but can also change the old formula for determining the minimum salary. Employee unions say the current system does not accurately reflect the expenses and responsibilities of today’s families.
Currently salary is paid on old formula
Currently, the calculation of minimum salary of government employees is based on a formula of 1956. This method was decided in the 15th Indian Labor Conference and is called the three-member family model. In this formula, it is believed that a family consists of three members: the employee, his spouse and a child. But employee unions say this model is now outdated and does not reflect the real situation of today’s families. Unions have suggested that the number of family members should be increased from three to five members. He says that due to rising inflation and responsibilities of many children including parents, the old formula is no longer sufficient.
