8th CPC Estimates for Level 7 Employees: Central government employees are categorised in 18 levels in terms of basic salary slabs in the 7th Pay Commission (7th CPC) pay matrix. In Level 7, Group B gazetted and non-gazetted officers come. They can be section officers in central ministries, assistant section officers with promotions, and inspectors in departments like Income Tax (CBDT), GST/Excise.
Sub-inspectors with promotions in CRPF, CISF, BSF, and ITBP are also Level 7 employees.
Their basic pay range is Rs 44,900-Rs 1,42,400. They have a pay band of 9300-34800 and their grade pay is 4600.
Like all other employees, they have also been waiting for salary revision in the 8th Pay Commission and expecting a sizeable hike.
The 8th Pay Commission, however, is yet to be formed. It will prepare its report, which will be approved by the central government.
Once it gets the go-ahead, the recommendations for salary hike will be implemented.
The salary rise will be done on the basis of the fitment factor, like it happened in the 6th and 7th Pay Commissions.
The fitment factor is a multiplier for salary and pension revision.
There are many expert estimates and suggestions that the fitment factor for the 8th CPC can be in the range of 1.92 to 2.86.
