A big controversy has arisen after the release of the first MBBS admission list in Mata Vaishno Devi Medical College of Jammu and Kashmir. Many Hindu organizations have protested against the names of 42 Muslim students out of 50 seats in this list. The organization demands that this admission list be changed, the entry rules be reconsidered, and more reservation be given for Hindu students.
Hindu organizations directly say that the medical college is run with the donations of Mata Vaishno Devi Temple, hence there should be reserved seats for Hindus in it. At the same time, the college management and Jammu and Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Examination (JKBOPEE) have clarified that this college is not a Minority Institute and all admissions are done on the basis of NEET merit.
The protesters created a ruckus at the college gate and raised slogans against the board chief and the college management. Some videos are going viral on social media, in which protesters can be seen uprooting the gate and raising slogans.
On this matter, the government and officials say that they are working as per the rules and in future also they will fix the entry on the basis of merit only. Besides, he has also appealed to maintain peace and restraint so that the situation does not go out of control.
