Chandigarh: An 80-year-old retired postmaster from Delhi has won the Rs 6 crore first prize in the Punjab State Dear Baisakhi Bumper lottery 2026.
Om Prakash, a resident of West Vihar, purchased the winning ticket for Rs 500 from a shop in Ghanta Ghar, Ludhiana. His ticket, numbered B520729, secured the top prize in the draw announced on April 19.

According to reports, Om Prakash had been buying lottery tickets for nearly 30 years, often through relatives. He frequently travelled to Ludhiana to visit his sister-in-law and would purchase tickets during his visits.
After the results were declared, Om Prakash travelled to Ludhiana to complete formalities and was welcomed with celebrations. His son Manoj said the family was overjoyed and added that the money would be used responsibly.
Speaking about the win, Manoj said his father, who already receives a pension, has no strong desire for wealth. The family plans to use the prize for charitable purposes. “He will definitely help the needy in the area and orphanages. This money is a lot for us. Today the whole family is full of happiness,” he said.
Om Prakash said he initially checked the result through a lottery application and realised he had won.
