The 70th Hyundai Filmfare Awards 2025 with Gujarat Tourism was hosted by Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar. Held on October 11, the award ceremony took place at EKA Arena, Ahmedabad.
While Alia Bhatt won the Best Actress award, Pratibha Ranta was honoured with the Best Actress Critics’ award for Laapataa Ladies. The actress’ winning speech is now going viral on social media. The film was directed by Kiran Rao.

After receiving the trophy for Laapataa Ladies, Pratibha expressed, “Oh my God! I was not expecting this tonight. Growing up in Shimla and thinking of coming to Mumbai and being a part of the Hindi film industry almost felt so far-fetched. But that place nourished me so deeply. It taught me how to always believe in yourself, how to dream big.”
The actress further mentioned, “I have always seen Filmfare on a TV screen, and tonight, standing here in front of so many talented, wonderful stars and legends like Shah Rukh sir, who inspired me throughout my journey and to be receiving this award, it makes this moment so special.”
Meanwhile, Pratibha’s co-star Nitanshi Goel won the Best Debut Actor (Female) award. On the other hand, Lakshaya was honoured with the Best Debut Actor (Male) award for Kill.
Kartik Aaryan on winning Best Actor award
As for Kartik, he shared the Best Actor honour with Abhishek Bachchan. While Kartik won for Chandu Champion, Abhishek was awarded for I Want To Talk. After winning the award, Kartik said, “It’s like a dream for me. There are certain moments in life where you feel that this is happening in real life or not, and this is that night where I feel it’s a dream. And Chandu champion, the more I talk about that film, the more I talk about you, Kabir (Khan) sir, that’s less.”
