Many faces of the world of crime come to the fore in the capital Delhi, but Delhi Police has recently arrested a woman who has surprised even the experienced police officers.
This is the story of 67 year old Rambiri, whom people lovingly call ‘Aunty’. But the real work of this ‘aunt’ was not to feed the children with a pallu on their heads, but to supply weapons to the dreaded criminals in Delhi-NCR. According to Delhi Police, Rambiri is the oldest female arms smuggler ever caught in Delhi. When did this woman enter the world of crime and what deeds has she done?
The most interesting thing that came to light after Rambiri’s arrest was his methodology i.e. his way of working. Rambiri is a resident of Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. She often traveled long distances from Meerut to Indore and Khargone in Madhya Pradesh. Police said that Rambiri used to travel in a very vicious manner. She followed the principle of traveling light, that is, she did not carry any heavy luggage or bag with her.
Who is this 67 year old ‘aunt’?
There were only four parathas and a bottle of water in his bag. She used to travel by train like an ordinary elderly woman so that no investigating agency or police would suspect her. Who knew that this ordinary looking woman was hiding the things of death in her clothes or in her small bag. She pretended to be a common traveler, due to which she escaped the attention of the police for years.
Game over at Shakur Basti station
This game of hide and seek of Rambiri ended on 9 January 2026. The Special Cell of Delhi Police and the local police had received a secret information that an elderly woman was going to come to Delhi with a big consignment of weapons. The police laid a trap and surrounded Rambiri near Shakur Basti railway station.
When the bag was searched the secret came out.
When the police searched him, they were stunned. Four sophisticated weapons and three magazines were recovered from this 67 year old woman. She was bringing these weapons from Khargone and they were to be supplied to some gang in Delhi-NCR.

Police officials say that Rambiri was lured into this business because his age was his biggest security cover. Usually the police search youth or suspicious looking men at railway stations or bus stands. No one even suspects that a 67 year old woman could be a part of organized crime.

‘Death Route’ from Meerut to Khargone
Investigation has revealed that Rambiri is part of a big syndicate of Meerut. She took a train from Meerut and reached Khargone in Madhya Pradesh, which is infamous for manufacturing illegal weapons. From there she would pick up weapons and head back to Delhi or Meerut. Whenever she felt hungry on the way, she would eat the same four parathas that she had packed from home. His simplicity was his biggest weapon.
Police challenge and further investigation
According to senior Delhi Police officials, the capture of Rambiri is a major success as she was an important link. It has become clear from his arrest that due to the fear of being caught, criminals are now using the elderly and women as their means. The police is now investigating the network through which Rambiri was to deliver the weapons.
Rambiri is currently in police custody and his interrogation is ongoing. The police hope that through ‘Chachi’ the entire corridor of illegal weapons running between Meerut and Khargone will be exposed. This case is a lesson for all those security agencies who do checking only on suspicion, because crime has no face or age.
