Jaylen Brown lit up Los Angeles and made history en route.
In the final stop of Boston’s five-game road trip, Brown delivered a blistering, record-making performance, pouring in 50 points to dismantle the Los Angeles Clippers and power the Celtics to a 146-115 blowout win.
It tied his career high and capped a dominant 4-1 West Coast swing in unforgettable fashion.
Against a Clippers team riding a five-game winning streak, Brown was unstoppable. He scored from everywhere, at every level, with ruthless efficiency – 18-of-26 from the field, 6-of-10 from deep, and 8-of-10 at the line. By the time Joe Mazzulla pulled him with three minutes left, the damage was long done – and the crowd was chanting “MVP.”
With the performance, Brown etched his name deeper into Celtics history. He became just the third player in franchise history to record multiple 50-point games, joining Larry Bird and Jayson Tatum. Celtics royalty, officially.
While the box score sparkled, the context made it louder. Boston erupted in the second half, dropping 30+ points in both the third and fourth quarters, tying their season-high of 146 team points. The offense clicked, the defense tightened, and the Clippers were overwhelmed.
Brown, meanwhile, looked annoyed to be subbed out – a clear sign he wanted more. A new career high was there for the taking.
Zoom out, and the numbers get even more intriguing. Brown is averaging 29.7 points per game, putting him on pace to become just the fifth Celtic ever to average 27+ in a season, alongside Bird, Havlicek, Tatum and Isaiah Thomas. That mark would rank third all-time in franchise history.
There’s even a realistic path to something bigger. Brown could join – or even surpass – Tatum as the only Celtics to average 30 points per game across a season. Once unthinkable, now firmly in play.
Next up, Boston heads home to face the Chicago Bulls on Monday, with momentum firmly on their side and the No. 2 seed in the East within reach.
