New Delhi: Indonesia pacer Gede Priandana scripted history by becoming the first bowler to take five wickets in an over in a T20I match. He created the world record with a sensational spell in the 1st T20I between Indonesia and Cambodia in Bali. He achieved the stunning feat in his very first over in the match.
Priandana ran through Cambodia’s middle order with five wickets, including a hat-trick in a single over, during their 168-run chase in the game. He was introduced into the attack in the 16th over and dismissed Cambodia opener Shah Abrar Hussain on 37 on the very first delivery to open his account with the ball.
He dismissed Nirmaljit Singh and Chanthoeun Rathanak in his next two deliveries to complete his hat-trick. Priandana didn’t stop there as the right-arm pacer removed tail-enders Mongdara Sok and Pel Vannak off the final two deliveries to make it five wickets in the over.
Priandana bowled only one over in the game and finished with jaw-dropping figures of 1/5 in one over to enter the record books. The Indonesian pacer now holds the record for the most wickets by a bowler in an over in T20Is. His fifer helped Indonesia skittle out Cambodia for 107 runs to register a thumping 60-run victory and go 1-0 up in the 8-match series.
