PM Modi starts campaign for Bihar elections 2025. He thrashed 36% EBC vote bank from Karpuri village, attacked RJD’s ‘lantern’ with ‘mobile light’ and called upon the youth to make Bihar prosperous.
Samastipur/Begusarai. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has started his election campaign for Bihar Assembly elections 2025 by addressing public meetings in Samastipur and Begusarai on Friday. This visit of PM Modi was not just an election rally, but it was a part of the well-thought-out strategy of the NDA, in which a mix of emotions, development and caste equations was seen. To understand both the speeches of PM Modi, here we are telling you about the five biggest factors, which were special in PM Modi’s speech today.
Factor 1: Message from Karpuri Gram – 36% EBC Card
The Prime Minister started his first election rally from Karpuri village of Samastipur, which is the birthplace of Jannayak Karpuri Thakur. This decision is of utmost importance symbolically because as per the recent caste census, the Extremely Backward Class (EBC) population in Bihar is 36.02%, which is the largest and decisive vote bank. Karpoori Thakur belonged to this class. By taking credit for giving ‘Bharat Ratna’ to Karpoori Thakur, PM Modi showed his commitment towards the EBC community. This directly strengthens Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s old EBC support base, while countering Lalu Yadav’s attempts to make a dent in the EBC (like making Mangni Lal Mandal the state president). PM said in his speech that our government considers Karpoori Thakur as an inspiration and has made his path of social justice the basis of good governance.
Factor 2: Attack of mobile light on ‘Lantern’
In the Begusarai rally, PM Modi adopted a unique method by getting people to light mobile flash lights and directly attacked RJD’s election symbol ‘Lantern’. By placing the ‘mobile light’ (which symbolizes development, digital India and progress) against the ‘lantern’ (which symbolizes darkness and power outages), the PM established the narrative of 15 years of ‘Jungle Raj’ versus the NDA’s ‘good governance’. Referring to Rs 28,000 crore sent to the accounts of farmers under the Kisan Samman Nidhi, he said that if there were ‘people with lanterns and claws’, this money would have been consumed through corrupt means. This unique display reminded the voters that they no longer need ‘darkness’, but the ‘light of development’.
Factor 3: Grand alliance is a ‘atak-jhatak’ party
PM Modi gave a new and sharp name ‘Lathbandhan’ to attack the Grand Alliance. He described it as ‘Atak Dal, Latak Dal, Ghatak Dal, Jhatak Dal and Patak Dal’. His attack was to take a dig at the controversies regarding seat sharing in the Grand Alliance. He accused the RJD of arrogantly ‘shaking’ JMM, ‘shaking’ Congress and ‘disguising’ VIPs. In contrast, he described the NDA led by Nitish Kumar, Manjhi, Upendra Kushwaha and Chirag Paswan as ‘full of wisdom’ and united.
Factor 4: Emotional connection with Chhath Mahaparva and Sharda Sinha
While addressing the public meeting in Begusarai, PM Modi made an emotional appeal by mentioning the biggest festival of Bihar, Chhath Puja, because it is starting from today. Before the rally, he took the blessings of Chhath fasting people by giving them soup and fruits. Also, he remembered Begusarai’s daughter-in-law, late folk singer Sharda Sinha and told that his government had the opportunity to honor her with Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan. By saying this he gave the message of respecting the culture and art of Bihar.
Factor 5: Youth have the responsibility of ‘Prosperous Bihar’
PM Modi dedicated a large part of his speech to the youth of Bihar and entrusted them with a big responsibility for the future. He reminded of the month of October 2005, when his parents freed him from ‘Jungle Raj’. The PM urged the youth that this October-November of 2025 has brought new opportunities and a big responsibility for them. They have to ‘make a prosperous Bihar for themselves and the coming generations of Bihar.’ Apart from this, he assured the youth that his government has broken the back of Naxalism and Maoist terror and soon the country and Bihar will be completely free from this menace, which he termed as ‘Modi’s guarantee’.
