The Central Government has taken many important decisions to strengthen the infrastructure and connectivity in the country. The objective of these decisions is to improve the transport system, increase facilities in rural areas and accelerate economic development.
Many big projects were approved in the Union Cabinet meeting, on which lakhs of crores of rupees will be spent. These decisions are expected to give new impetus to development work in different areas of the country.
1. Jal Jeevan Mission extended till 2028
The government has decided to continue the Jal Jeevan Mission scheme, which provides clean drinking water to every household in rural areas, till December 2028. For this, a big budget of about Rs 8.7 lakh crore has been approved. Through this scheme, the aim is to provide clean water through tap water to crores of rural families of the country.
2. Madurai Airport gets international status
Taking an important decision in the aviation sector, the government has declared Madurai Airport as an international airport. This is likely to boost tourism, trade and international travel in this region of South India.
3. Elevated road from Jewar Airport to Faridabad
To improve the traffic system, the government has approved the construction of an elevated road connecting the Jewar Airport and Faridabad section. A budget of about Rs 3,631 crore has been fixed for this project. This will further improve connectivity in Delhi-NCR region.
4. Plan to make the National Highway 4-lane
The government has also approved a plan to develop the Badnavar-Thandla-Timarwani (NH-752D) highway into four laning. Approximately Rs 3,839 crore will be spent for this project. This will make road transport more convenient in Madhya Pradesh and surrounding areas.
5. Approval for expansion of railway network
Many important projects have also been approved in the railway sector. About Rs 2,905 crore has been sanctioned for the construction of the fourth railway line between Santragachi-Kharagpur. Whereas a project worth Rs 1,569 crore has been approved for the Sainthia-Pakud railway line.
