Under this model, buyers can purchase the vehicle at a significantly lower upfront price while paying separately for the battery through a subscription. This has reduced the initial cost of ownership, making electric mobility more accessible. Models such as the Tata Tiago EV, MG Comet EV, Tata Punch EV and Citroen eC3 are now available at attractive starting prices, offering buyers a choice of good range, modern features and improved safety.
Tata Tiago EV
The Tata Tiago EV is among the most affordable electric cars available in India. With the BaaS plan, its starting ex-showroom price is around Rs 4.69 lakh, while the regular purchase price starts at Rs 6.99 lakh. The hatchback features LED DRLs, a closed front grille, aero-style alloy wheels and connected LED tail lamps. Inside, it gets a 10.25-inch touchscreen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, cruise control, a digital instrument cluster and wireless charging. Safety is enhanced with six airbags, a 360-degree camera, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill Hold Assist and TPMS. Buyers can choose between 19.2 kWh and 24 kWh battery packs, with a claimed MIDC driving range of up to 293 km.
MG Comet EV
The MG Comet EV is a compact electric hatchback built primarily for urban commuting. Under the BaaS scheme, it is priced from around Rs 4.99 lakh, while the standard ex-showroom price is approximately Rs 7 lakh. Its distinctive boxy design features full-LED lighting, a connected LED light bar and 12-inch wheels. The cabin comes equipped with dual 10.25-inch displays, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, keyless entry, a digital instrument cluster and MG’s i-Smart connected car technology. Safety features include dual airbags, ABS with EBD, a rear parking camera and TPMS. Powered by a 17.3 kWh battery pack, the Comet EV offers a claimed driving range of up to 230 km on a single charge.
Tata Punch EV
For buyers looking for an electric SUV with premium features, the Tata Punch EV is a strong option. Its starting price under the BaaS plan is around Rs 6.49 lakh, while the regular ex-showroom price begins at approximately Rs 9.69 lakh. The Punch EV stands out with its closed front grille, LED light bar, redesigned bumpers and aero-style alloy wheels. The cabin includes a 10.25-inch touchscreen, a digital driver’s display, wireless phone charging, ventilated front seats, a sunroof and a 360-degree camera. It also offers six airbags, ESC, Blind Spot Monitor, Hill Hold Assist and ADAS features. Available with 25 kWh and 35 kWh battery packs, the electric SUV delivers a claimed maximum driving range of up to 421 km.
Citroen eC3
The Citroen eC3 is aimed at buyers who want a spacious cabin and an SUV-like driving position at an affordable price. With the BaaS plan, it starts at around Rs 8.49 lakh, while its regular ex-showroom price is approximately Rs 11.99 lakh. Based on the C3 hatchback, it offers high ground clearance, SUV-inspired styling and a distinctive front design. Inside, it features a 10.2-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone connectivity, a digital instrument display and ample cabin space. Safety equipment includes six airbags, ESC, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors and TPMS. The eC3 is powered by a 29.2 kWh battery pack paired with an electric motor producing 57 PS and 143 Nm, with a claimed ARAI-certified driving range of up to 320 km.
