Ratlam Student Case: Why did Ratlam’s national skater jump from the third floor? Was it just a mobile mistake or did the principal’s words shake his world? What unspoken fear was hidden behind saying “sorry” 52 times in 4 minutes? what the FAC?
Ratlam. A shocking incident has come to light in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, which has raised many big questions regarding the school system, discipline and mental pressure of children. An 8th class student of a private school in Dongre Nagar, who is a national level skating player, suddenly jumped from the third floor. Thankfully, his life was saved and his condition in the hospital is now said to be stable. The most shocking thing in this whole matter is the video footage and statement in which the child kept saying “Sorry, sorry…” continuously for about 4 minutes in the principal’s office – a total of 52 times. What happened that a talented child became so broken?

Has mobile phone changed the fate of the child?
According to the school, the boy had come to school with a mobile phone on Thursday. He recorded the video in the classroom and uploaded it on social media. According to school policy, this was a violation of rules, so his parents were called for talks on Friday. But was just bringing a mobile phone such a big mistake that the child got so nervous?
4 minutes, 52 apologies: Did the principal’s words increase the pressure?
CCTV footage shows that the 13-year-old boy is nervously apologizing repeatedly in the principal’s room. The boy later reported that the principal allegedly threatened to “end his career,” suspend him, and “take away his medals.” The child, who was already known for his success in skating, and had represented the country twice at the national level, was heartbroken to hear the news.

The father was sitting nearby, but the news of the accident was received last.
The most painful part of the incident is that the boy’s father was present in the school at the same time, sitting in the waiting area. He had no idea that his son was breaking down under mental pressure just a short distance away. After some time, he got a call – first he was asked to meet the child, then suddenly he was told that he had fallen from the third floor and was being taken to the hospital. Father Pritam Katara said, “I was called to meet my son. When I reached school, I came to know that he had fallen… He has gone to nationals twice in skating. I got a call from the school, but then another call from the school asking me to come straight to the hospital,” said father Pritam Katara.
Did the school handle the situation appropriately?
SDM Archie Harit confirmed that the child had brought a phone to school, which is a violation of school policy, but stressed that the situation escalated suddenly. “The boy is in class 8. He had brought his phone. He ran and jumped. His condition is stable. An investigation will be done. Mobile phones are not allowed in the school, even teachers’ phones are confiscated. He is a skater and has a very good position at the national level,” he said.

Did the school handle the situation appropriately?
The school administration says it wanted to talk to the father before imposing any punishment, but the events happened so fast that no one could keep track. This incident is not just an accident, but a deep warning that the balance of rules versus mental pressure is getting worse in today’s schools? Is excessive strictness being imposed on children under the guise of mobile policy?
