Delhi Rains: Over 300 flights were delayed, and four were cancelled after heavy downpour lashed several parts of the national capital on Friday evening and continued till Saturday morning. However, no flight diversions were reported at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) on Saturday.
According to the data available on FlightRadar24, a flight tracking website, “365 flights were delayed and four were cancelled at Delhi airport amid heavy rain. The average delay in flight departures was around 17 minutes.”

Following a heavy downpour on Saturday morning, the IndiGo airline issued an advisory urging passengers to plan their travel accordingly. “Due to today’s downpour, several roads across Delhi are currently blocked or experiencing slow movement. Please allow extra time, take an alternate route if possible, and check your flight status on our website or app before leaving for the airport. Our teams are working to keep things on track and support your journey,” IndiGo posted on X.
In another post, Air India said rain may impact flight operations to and from Delhi on Saturday.
Delhi Weather Forecast: IMD Issued Rain Alert For THESE Areas
Heavy rain began in Delhi on Friday evening and continued till Saturday morning. Earlier in the morning, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert for heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in parts of north, west, south, southeast, and Central Delhi. Later in the day, the weather alert was downgraded to yellow, with the weather department advising residents to remain cautious.
In the last 24 hours till 8.30 AM on Saturday, Delhi’s primary weather station at Safdarjung recorded 78.7 mm of rainfall, Pragati Maidan 100 mm, Lodhi Road 80 mm, Pusa 69 mm, and Palam 31.8 mm, according to data shared by the weather department, news agency PTI reported.
