Maruti Suzuki has finally brought automatic gearboxes to its factory-fitted CNG range, launching CNG AMT versions of the Swift, Dzire and Baleno in India. Introduced under the company’s new Auto Green Mission, the three cars combine the lower running costs of CNG with the convenience of two-pedal driving. Prices start at Rs 7.92 lakh for the Swift, Rs 8.32 lakh for the Baleno and Rs 8.53 lakh for the Dzire, ex-showroom.

All prices are ex-showroom and represent the entry prices for the new automatic CNG versions.
All three get 5-speed AMT
The three models use Maruti Suzuki’s 1.2-litre Z12E petrol engine with Dual Variable Valve Timing and Idle Start-Stop technology.
The engine is paired with a five-speed AMT, which Maruti calls Auto Gear Shift. Drivers can also manually select gears without operating a clutch pedal.
In CNG mode, the engine produces 68.74 bhp and 101.8 Nm, while petrol mode produces 81.74 bhp and 112.4 Nm, according to the published specifications for the new Swift CNG AMT.
Dzire CNG AMT delivers 36.47 km/kg
Dzire S-CNG AMT claims 36.47 km/kg, making it the most fuel-efficient sedan in India based on JATO Dynamics certification dated September 18, 2026.
Swift S-CNG AMT returns 35.34 km/kg, while the Baleno S-CNG AMT is rated at 34.47 km/kg.
These are certified test-cycle figures, so real-world mileage will vary depending on traffic, driving style and load.
Why Maruti is launching CNG automatics now
Until now, buyers of these three Maruti models had to choose a manual gearbox if they wanted CNG.
The new AMT variants address that gap, particularly for customers driving regularly in congested cities. The AMT handles clutch operation and gear changes, while the factory-fitted CNG system is aimed at keeping running costs lower.
Maruti says S-CNG sales grew 58% year-on-year in Q1, while July 2026 recorded its highest-ever monthly S-CNG sales at 83,000 units.
Swift, Dzire and Baleno get CNG plus automatic
The launch expands Maruti’s CNG portfolio across both its Arena and Nexa networks, with the Swift and Dzire sold through Arena and the Baleno through Nexa.
For buyers who spend long hours in city traffic, the combination of CNG efficiency and clutch-free AMT driving could make these new variants an interesting alternative to conventional petrol automatics.
