2.56 lakh people have been affected due to floods in Punjab. 29 has died. PM Narendra Modi has spoken to the state CM Bhagwant Mann over the phone. They have been assured of all possible help from the Central Government.
Punjab flood: There has been a huge devastation in Punjab due to floods. By Monday evening, 29 people were killed and 2.56 lakh people are reported to be affected. The crop in thousands of acres has deteriorated. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann and assured him of all possible help from the central government. On returning to Delhi from China, the PM spoke to Bhagwant Mann over the phone. The situation arising out of rain and floods in Punjab was discussed between the two.
2.56 lakh people affected by floods in Punjab
Punjab is suffering from the severe floods due to continuous rains. Punjab Revenue, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management Minister S.K. According to Hardeep Singh Mundian, floods have affected more than 2.56 lakh people in 12 districts. Thousands of people have been displaced. Life, property, agriculture and livestock have suffered heavy losses.
The minister said that so far 15,688 people have been evacuated from flood affected areas. Most of these are Gurdaspur (5,549), Ferozepur (3,321), Fazilka (2,049), Amritsar (1,700), Pathankot (1,139) and Hoshiarpur (1,052). To provide immediate relief, the state government has set up 129 relief camps. 7,144 people are living in these camps. The highest number of 3,987 people in Ferozepur, followed by Fazilka (1,201), Hoshiarpur (478), Pathankot (411) and Gurdaspur (424).
Air Force put 35 helicopters for flood relief in Punjab
So far 1,044 villages have been affected by the floods. Many agencies have been deployed to help in relief and rescue operations. NDRF has deployed 20 teams. The Army, Navy and Air Force have deployed 10 troops. 8 are on standby. They are accompanied by engineer units. More than 35 helicopters are engaged in rescue operations. They also have 114 boats and a state helicopter. Units of BSF have been deployed in the border affected areas.
Crops planted in 94,061 hectares were spoiled
The floods have shocked Punjab’s agricultural economy. Crops in 94,061 hectares have been ruined. Amritsar (23,000 hectares), Mansa (17,005 hectares), Kapurthala (14,934 hectares), Tarn Taran (11,883 hectares) and Ferozepur (11,232 hectares) are among the most affected areas. There have been reports of loss of crops from many other districts.
Minister Mundian said that the government has activated medical teams and relief distribution channels. The entire address of livestock and infrastructure loss will be able to run only after the water is reduced. The government led by Bhagwant Mann is committed to providing both immediate relief and long -term rehabilitation.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann visited the flood affected Miani village on Monday and interacted with the people living in the relief camp set up at the Government High School. The district administration has been instructed to speed up the assessment of damage so that the affected families can be compensated on time.
