To improve waste management in Lucknow, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath flagged off 250 electric and CNG vehicles. He said that due to the efforts of the double engine government, Lucknow is joining the top cities of the country in cleanliness and development.
A big step has been taken in Lucknow regarding cleanliness and environmental protection. On Wednesday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath flagged off 250 new electric and CNG vehicles to strengthen the waste management of Lucknow Municipal Corporation. Through these vehicles, the door-to-door garbage collection system in the city will be further improved.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister said that when the people of Uttar Pradesh chose the path of change by removing “political garbage”, only then big works for cleanliness and development became possible. He said that due to the efforts of the double engine government, today Lucknow is being counted among the top cities of the country in terms of cleanliness.
“Before 2017 there was a culture of darkness”
During the program, CM Yogi also targeted the opposition. He said that before 2017, there was a culture of darkness in the state because the governments of that time were not interested in improving the power system.
The Chief Minister said that his government changed the street lighting system in the entire state and installed LED lights, which increased the lighting in the cities and also reduced the electricity consumption. He said that earlier halogen lights with yellow light were installed, which consumed a lot of electricity and did not provide proper illumination on the roads. Today the situation has changed and due to the installation of “milky light” LED lights in cities, the roads appear safe and clean even at night.

Changing picture of Lucknow
The Chief Minister said that the picture of Lucknow has changed a lot in the last nine years. Today, due to the cleanliness, better roads, metro service and modern facilities in the city, people coming from outside also praise it. He said that today a large number of people are using the metro service in Lucknow and the city is rapidly progressing as a modern urban centre. He also said that Lucknow is now gaining recognition as an emerging center of defense manufacturing.
Steps towards solar city
CM Yogi said that many municipal bodies of the state are being developed as safe cities and solar cities. Ayodhya, the city of Lord Ram, has been developed as a solar city. He said that under the inspiration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, rooftop solar panels have been installed in lakhs of houses in Uttar Pradesh under the Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme. Due to this, electricity production has increased and people’s electricity bills have also decreased.
Emphasis on electric bus and manufacturing
The Chief Minister said that electric bus service is being expanded rapidly to strengthen public transport in Uttar Pradesh. Bus services of cities are gradually being converted to electric buses. He told that Ashok Leyland’s electric bus manufacturing unit is already functioning in Lucknow and now the manufacturing of electric vehicles will also start in Tata Motors’ unit soon.
“UP became a growth engine from a sick state”
CM Yogi said that before 2017, Uttar Pradesh was called a sick state. Due to filth and disorder, diseases like encephalitis, dengue and malaria spread. He said that now the situation has changed and the state has made great progress in the field of cleanliness campaign as well as health and development.
Initiative towards clean city and green city
The Chief Minister said that with the addition of 250 new electric and CNG vehicles, the door-to-door garbage collection system in Lucknow will be further strengthened. This will help in making the city a clean city and green city. He also informed that “Soumitra Van” has been developed by removing encroachments in the areas around Gomti River, which has today become a new attraction for the city. In the program, Urban Development and Energy Minister A.K. Sharma, Lucknow Mayor Sushma Kharkwal and many MLAs and public representatives were present.
