Lado-lakshmi scheme

In Haryana, the BJP government, led by Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini, is going to implement the Lado-Lakshmi scheme to fulfill its election promise. Under this scheme, financial assistance of Rs 2,100 will be given to eligible women of the state every month. It is being told that the Social Justice Department has prepared its draft and sent it to the Chief Minister’s Office. It is believed that it can be applied as a gift for women before Rakshabandhan.

Was promised in assembly elections

According to the report of the Indian Express, Social Justice Minister Krishna Kumar Bedi said that during the assembly elections, the BJP had promised this to the sisters and mothers of Haryana. Now its complete preparation has been done and the file has been sent to the Chief Minister. Chief Minister Saini may soon formally start this scheme.

Plan will be applicable in four stages

According to the draft, the Lado-Lakshmi scheme will be implemented in four stages. The first phase will include about 46 lakh women living below the poverty line (BPL), whose annual income is less than Rs 1.8 lakh. According to an official, whose annual income is less than Rs 1 lakh, they will be given priority.

The government has kept a budget of Rs 5,000 crore for this scheme. However, after the correct number of beneficiaries is fixed, this amount can be increased further.

How many women will be beneficiaries?

According to officials, about 75 lakh women come in the age group of 18 to 60 years. But the job women and about 8.5 lakh women, who are already taking advantage of widow pension, destitute pension or other social security schemes, will be excluded from this scheme. The final standards of eligibility are yet to be set.

Schemes like Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra

This scheme of Saini government matches the schemes of BJP ruled states Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. Before the assembly elections there, Ladli Bahna Yojana and Ladki Bahin Yojana were started respectively. The Haryana government is also taking steps towards empowering women by giving financial assistance on the same lines. Now it will have to be seen how much relief this scheme brings for women before Rakshabandhan.
