2026 Toyota Fortuner – New Look, ADAS, Bigger Screens & More

Toyota Kirloskar Motor recently launched its first electric offering, the  , at Rs 23.60 lakh (ex-showroom). Following the EV’s lauch, the Japanese automaker will introduce the 7-seater version of the Toyota Hyryder and the third-generation Toyota Fortuner. Both models are currently undergoing testing and expected to arrive in late 2026.

The next-gen Fortuner could make its world debut towards the end of this year, and its India launch is likely to happen in early 2027.

Heavily Updated Design

The new Toyota Fortuner 2026 is expected to come with significantly improved styling, heavily inspired by the new Hilux. Spy shots reveal that the SUV will feature a boxier and more upright stance than the current model. The front fascia also appears to be wider than before. It will sport a newly-designed and larger grille, slim LED DRLs, slightly repositioned headlamps with split pattern, a tweaked bumper and a flatter bonnet.

While the squared-off wheel arches and roof rails are likely to remain unchanged, the 2026 Toyota Fortuner is expected to get newly-designed alloy wheels. At the rear, the SUV will get redesigned LED taillamps, new tailgate design and a revised bumper. With the generational upgrade, the Fortuner will switch to Toyota’s updated IMV ladder-frame chassis, which also underpin the new Hilux.

Inside the cabin, the new Toyota Fortuner 2026 is expected offer the Hilux-sourced fully digital driver’s display and a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. One of the biggest feature upgrades is likely to be the introduction of Toyota Safety Sense. A test mule was spied with an ADAS radar module mounted on the lower bumper and cameras integrated behind the windscreen, indicating the inclusion of the safety suite.

Features such as a 360-degree camera, wireless phone charging, updated connectivity features, a sunroof and OTA (over-the-air) updates could also be part of the package.

Engine, Gearboxes & Drivetrain

Under the hood, the new 2026 Toyota Fortuner is expected to retain the existing 2.7LL petrol, 2.8L diesel and 2.8L mild hybrid Neo Drive powertrains. Both manual and automatic gearboxes will continue to be on offer, while the AWD drivetrain system is also likely to remain unchanged.
