2026 Hyundai Verna launched with new features, prices start at Rs 10.98 lakh

New Delhi: Hyundai has come up with the 2026 model-year update of the Hyundai Verna in India. The midsize sedan is now priced between Rs 10.98 lakh and Rs 18.25 lakh (ex-showroom). Along with this update, the carmaker has added a few design changes, new features inside the cabin and some additional safety equipment.

The update is mainly aimed at keeping the Verna competitive in the midsize sedan segment. It goes up against models like the Honda City, Volkswagen Virtus and Skoda Slavia. Hyundai has also introduced a new naming system for the variants, similar to what the brand recently used for the Hyundai Venue.

New Hyundai Verna updates

On the outside, the 2026 Verna gets a new black chrome grille at the front. The LED headlights now use a projector setup. Hyundai has also slightly refreshed the bumpers and added updated 16-inch alloy wheels.

Two new exterior colour options have also been introduced. These are Classy Blue and Titan Grey Matte.

Inside the cabin, the sedan receives a few notable additions. One of the key features is the Boss mode for the front passenger seat. It allows the rear passenger to adjust the front passenger seat to create more legroom. The driver’s seat now comes with a memory function, while the front passenger seat gets powered adjustment.

Hyundai has also added a new steering wheel that features the brand’s ‘H’ logo designed in Morse code style.

In terms of safety, the top variant of the Verna now comes with seven airbags, while the other variants continue to offer six airbags as standard. Other additions include a 360-degree camera system and a built-in dashcam.

Engine and gearbox options remain unchanged

There are no mechanical changes with the 2026 update. The Verna continues to be offered with two petrol engine options.

The first is a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 115hp and 144Nm of torque. The second is a more powerful 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine that delivers 160hp and 253Nm.

Both engines come with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard. The naturally aspirated engine can also be paired with a CVT automatic transmission. Meanwhile, the turbo-petrol engine is available with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
