The Aprilia SR 175 is the replacement for the SR 160 which was one of the more popular sporty scooters. The new scooter has been launched at a starting price of Rs 1.26 lakh (ex-showroom). There are a few new design elements and a new larger and more powerful engine as well.
The new SR 175 gets a new LED headlight but most of the scooter remains more or less the same. It gets a 174.5cc single cylinder engine which produces 13.08 bhp at 7,200 rpms and 14.14 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpms. It is paired to a CVT gearbox. There is now a 5.5-inch colour TFT instrument cluster, a USB charging port and it also comes with single channel ABS.
Other technical details remain more or less the same and it has 14-inch wheels, telescopic front forks, and a single shock absorber at the rear. The front comes with a disc brake however, the rear is still a drum brake unit. The SR 175 is available in two colour schemes, namely-Glossy Tech White and Matt Prismatic Dark.
The SR 175 competes with the likes of the Yamaha Aerox 155 and the Hero XOOM 160. There is also the OLA S1 Pro which offers quite a lot of performance in a similar price range and is also electric.
