With Guwahati gearing up to host the second ODI between India and the West Indies at Barsapara on September 30, around 20,000 tickets have been sold so far, with about 2,000 still available online, the Assam Cricket Association (ACA) said on Monday.
ACA vice-president Parikshit Dutta said around 22,000 tickets are usually sold for matches at the venue and expressed hope that the remaining tickets would also be snapped up.
“Till now, a total of 20,000 tickets have been sold. We usually sell around 22,000 tickets and we are hopeful that the remaining 2,000 will be completed too,” Dutta said, at a joint press conference held by the ACA and Traffic Police on arrangements for the match.
Food outlets will be available inside the stadium, while vendors have been instructed not to charge more than the printed prices for food and other items, Dutta said.
“It has already been directed to all the vendors to not sell items at higher prices than the printed rates. If such cases arise, then we have assigned a neutral agency and they will inspect the food stalls. I request the audience to report any such cases for action,” he said.
For security reasons, spectators will be allowed to carry only money purses or wallets and mobile phones inside the stadium, he added.
The ACA is also planning to open Gates 5 and 6 around one to one-and-a-half hours before the match to manage crowds.
Asked about entertainment programmes during the match, Dutta said there would be no singing performances.
“Such programmes are usually scheduled during IPL matches. No singing performances will be there. Officials from BCCI would be present on that day,” he said.
Meanwhile, Traffic Branch ADCP Mrinmoy Goswami said traffic regulations would largely remain similar to those implemented during previous matches, with some changes aimed at easing movement.
“The traffic rules and regulations will remain more or less the same as before. However, this time it will be more convenient for people travelling from Lokhra to Birubari or vice versa, and they will be able to avoid the traffic due to the new Birubari-Lal Ganesh flyover,” Goswami said.
Commercial and slow-moving vehicles, including rickshaws, carts and e-rickshaws, will not be allowed on AK Azad Road, AK Dev Road and the main road leading to Barsapara from 10am on September 30.
Vehicular movement will also be restricted on Mora Bharalu Road, as the narrow stretch could witness congestion. Roadside parking will not be allowed along the routes through which the teams will travel.
Kul Basumatary Road will operate as a one-way route, while vehicles will not be allowed to enter from the Dhirenpara side.
Vehicles with VIP passes will have to approach through AK Azad Road and enter through Gate 1B. Vehicles with drop-off passes approaching via AK Dev Road will drop passengers at Dhirenpara Tiniali, while those approaching via AK Azad Road will have to drop passengers at Barsapara Tiniali.
