Old fossils found in Rajasthan than dinosaurs.
Fossil of Phytosaur species of Jurassic period has been found in Megha village in Fatehgarh, Jaisalmer. Scientists claim that this fossil is about 200 million years old. It is older than dinosaurs. He has described it as the first discovery of Phytosaur fossils from the rocks of Jurassic period in the country. The area where the skeleton is found is taken in the preserved range. Now the complete discovery of the skeleton will be Geological Survey of India.
In the presence of Senior Ground Water Scientist Dr. Narayanadas Inkhiya, Jayanarayan Vyas University (JNVU), the Faculty of Earth Sciences, Department of Geology of the Earth System of Earth System of Geology Department of Jodhpur, Dr. VS. A team led by Parihar is currently studying fossil.
On August 21, the villagers of Megha village gave information about this skeleton to the administration. Senior groundwater scientist of the district, Dr. ND Inkhia reached the spot and started research. He spoke of this Jurassic period being fossil. After this, as expert, Dr. Parihar inspected and confirmed the fossil. Dr. Parihar described it as a fossil of a tree lizard (phytosaur) crocodile species found in the 201 million years (about 200 million years) old forests. Its length is 1.5 to 2 meters. Research revealed that Phytosaur (tree lizard) is an ancient reptile, which lived in the forests near the rivers.
Triyssic period
The Tricycic period lasted from 251.9 to 201.4 million years ago. This period started after Permian Triassic extinction, there was heavy loss of life on earth. During this period, various mammals including dinosaurs, turtles, lizards were born. During this period there was only one continent called Penjia and a variety of creatures, especially reptiles, originated. At present, it has been secured by fencing around this skeleton found near the pond of Megha village.
Dr. Narayan Das Inkhia said- Now by preserving this place, the entire discovery of this skeleton will be conducted by Geological Survey of India, this is a big discovery, in which we have got a whole skeleton. Now excavation will be done and then there will be research on the skeleton, with it some more creatures can also be found. Dr. Inkhia says- Earlier in Jaisalmer, dinosaurs were found in the areas around Thaiyat. Along with this, trees have been found in Akal village from 18 crore years ago, which have now become stones. A ‘Wood Fossil Park’ has also been built in Akal village with the fossils of such trees.
Evidence of dinosaur
He told- There is a hill of Jethwai in Jaisalmer city. Thiyat and sticks, 16 km from here, are called ‘village of dinosaurs’. The reason for this is that evidence of dinosaurs is found in these places only. There was earlier mining on Jethwai hill. People used to carry stones from here to build houses. In the same way, fossils of dinosaurs are found in the mining area of Sand Stone in Thaiyat and Lathi villages. In the three villages, a lot of remains were destroyed by mining. When the fossils of dinosaurs started getting here, the government stopped the mining work. Now all three places have been preserved.
Rare species of shark-whale
Dr. Narayan Das Inkhia said- Dinosaurs used to come in Jaisalmer in search of food, about 25 crore years ago, there used to be Tethis Sea in the desert Jurassic era situated from Jaisalmer to Kutch in Gujarat. This was the time when America, Africa and India were all countries in the same continent, then there were such rare species of whales and sharks in the Tethis Sea adjacent to Jaisalmer, which have disappeared today.
