Harmanpreet Kaur-led India made a winning start to their 2025 Women’s World Cup campaign and defeated Sri Lanka by 59 runs in the tournament-opener.
They continued their form and defeated arch-rivals Pakistan by 88 runs to register their second win on the trot. However, everything has gone downhill for them since then. India suffered a shocking defeat against South Africa in their third game on October 9.
Australia chased down a target of 331 to hand India their second defeat. India suffered a four-run defeat against England in their fifth game. They now have 2 wins and 3 defeats from five matches. Every team is scheduled to play seven matches each.
India still have their destiny in their own hands and can make it to the semi-final when they face New Zealand on Thursday (October 23). Here we see how India can make it to the semi-final of the 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup –
India have 4 points in their account at an NRR of +0.526. South Africa, Australia and England are the three teams which have qualified for the semi-final. A win over NZ in their next game will see India move to six points and punch their ticket to the semi-final.
Even a defeat will keep India alive in the tournament but they will need favours from other teams. In case of a defeat, India will only qualify if they win their next match. Plus, they will need England to defeat New Zealand. England and NZ are scheduled to lock horns on Sunday (October 26). The match will start at 11:00 PM IST.
India and Bangladesh will meet in the last league stage game on the same day from 3:00 PM IST. The two semi-finals are scheduled to be played on October 29 and 30. The final will take place on November 2.
