2 children killed in Bihar after car rams bike carrying 5 people

Two children – aged three and five died – after a car collided with a bike carrying them and three others in Bihar’s Bagaha on Sunday, police said.

The victim’s parents and another child, who were on the bike, suffered injuries and were hospitalised.

The accident occurred on the Ramnagar-Lauria main road when the car hit the bike carrying the couple and their three children. The two children who died were identified as Manu Ram, 3, and Shivam Ram, 5.

The car’s front portion was damaged as it hit a tree, with eyewitnesses saying that the driver ran away following the accident. The bike was also severely damaged due to the collision with the car.

On receiving information about the accident, police rushed to the spot and seized the car.

They sent the bodies of the children for a post-mortem examination and registered a case in the matter.

The three injured people were rushed to a local hospital in critical condition. They were later referred to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Dr Shahid Kumar said.

“The injured in the road accident were brought to the hospital. Seeing their critical condition, they were referred to GMCH after first aid,” he said.

A manhunt was launched to catch the car driver, who is on the run.

“Seeing the seriousness of the incident, the police is investigating all angles. After investigation, strict action will be taken against the accused driver,” Ramnagar SDPO Divyanjali Jaiswal said.
