The country’s Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has started the ‘Aapki Kapital Aapka Adhikar’ campaign to return the unclaimed money lying in the banks to its rightful owner. Under this campaign, a special camp is being organized in Noida today i.e. on 21 November 2025. This camp will run on Friday from 12 noon to 3 pm in the auditorium of Vikas Bhawan located in Surajpur. Rs 190.63 crore are lying unclaimed in about 4.80 lakh accounts of different banks in the district. RBI is running this campaign to find the rightful owners of this money.
According to the ET report, District Lead Bank Manager Rajesh Katheria said that this camp has been organized to settle the unclaimed amount. People who have unclaimed money in their accounts can come to the camp with their necessary documents and claim the amount. If anyone has even a suspicion that money may be lying somewhere in his name, he can also come to the camp and get information. DM Medha Rupam will preside over this camp.
Information will go on the portal
RBI has started this campaign to get back the money lying in inactive accounts i.e. which have not been operating for a long time. Information about such accounts of the district is also available on the Udgam portal. Today people can stake their claim even in the camp. This campaign will run till December 31, under which such camps will be organized at many more places in the coming days.
UDGAM Portal
RBI has already taken action to return the unclaimed money to its owner. UDGAM portal has been launched. With the help of this portal money can be claimed.
step 1: For this, first of all you [udgam.rbi.org.in]Have to go to (https://udgam.rbi.org.in).
Step-2:Then you will have to register there through your mobile number.
Step-3: An OTP will come on your number, which you will have to enter to login. After logging in, you will have to fill in your required details like your name and an identity card, PAN, passport, voter ID or driving license.
Step-4: Then choose the banks you want to search, or select all.
Process after getting match
Through UDGAM portal you will know whether you are the heir of any unclaimed money or not. If you find a match then you will have to do a separate process. If you have money in a bank, then understand what needs to be done to get it.
- If you find that there is an unclaimed deposit, the first thing you need to do is call that bank.
- After that go to the bank branch yourself.
- Provide proof of identity, proof of residence and proof of account ownership.
- Apart from this, if the deceased has an account, then submit the death certificate and legal documents to prove that you are his heir.
- If this is decided then the bank will transfer the money to your account.
Apart from this, if there is a camp in your city like Noida, then you can also go there directly and claim. There the officials will also tell you the further process.
