New Delhi: Naman Dhir went berserk with the bat to smash a stunning knock of 173 runs off just 64 balls for Amritsar Soormas in the Sher-E-Punjab T20 Cup on Monday, September 08. The Mumbai Indians star’s exceptional display helped his side thrash Mohali Kings by 67 runs in the tournament.
Dhir opened the batting with Sahaj Davinder Pal Dhawan for the Amritsar Soormas and single-handedly dismantled the Mohali Kings’ bowling attack with his exceptional power hitting. The right-hander’s 173-run knock was laced with 16 fours and a staggering 12 sixes.
He lost his opening partner Dhawan cheaply on 1 in the first over but continued his onslaught from the other end. Despite Amritsar Soormas losing wickets at regular intervals from the other end, Dhir continued at his aggressive template, smashing the bowlers all around the park at the PCA Stadium in Mohali.
He also went after his Punjab teammate and Punjab Kings spinner, Harpreet Brar, who ended up giving away 60 runs off his 4 overs during the match. Dhir shared a 120-run stand for the third wicket with Jashanpreet Singh Sidhu, who scored 41 off 25 balls. Thanks to his batting exploits, Amritsar Soormas ended up posting a huge total of 279/7 on the board in 20 overs.
Dhir got off to an explosive start in the game and raced to his half-century off just 19 deliveries. He upped the ante after his half-century and ended up completing his century off just 39 balls. Dhir launched a brutal onslaught after crossing the 100-run mark to eventually finish with 173 off just 64 balls.

Thanks to Dhir’s stunning knock, Amritsar Soormas beat the Mohali Kings by 67 runs, successfully defending the total of 279 runs. Mohali Kings’ batters came out all guns blazing during the run chase and put on a brilliant fight. However, their efforts were not enough to get the team over the line in the mammoth chase.
Opener Jaskaranvir Singh Paul top scored for Mohali Kings with 76 off 41 balls, while Anmolpreet Singh smashed 52 off 25 deliveries.
