A 14-year-old student has died in Valparai, Tamil Nadu. He had tried to commit suicide to avoid the parents meeting. The girl had accused three teachers of mentally harassing her. Police have registered a case against the teachers.
Valparai: A 14-year-old girl, who tried to commit suicide so that her mother could not attend the school’s parents’ meeting, has died. This incident took place in Valparai, Tamil Nadu. The girl told in her statement that the English teacher of the school used to harass her mentally and make fun of her in front of other children. Valparai police has registered a case against the teachers. On 10th of last month, a Class 9 student of a Government Higher Secondary School in Rottikkadai near Valparai, Tamil Nadu, had attempted suicide. A 14-year-old girl set herself on fire using kerosene oil kept in the house while her parents were at work. The seriously burnt girl was undergoing treatment at a Coimbatore hospital, where she died last night.
During treatment, it was only when the police reached the hospital to take the statement that the details of the case came to light. According to the girl’s statement, three teachers of the school used to harass her mentally. The English teacher scolded and made fun of him in front of other students for the way he tied his hair. Hearing this, he felt very sad when other children laughed. Not only this, the Tamil teacher kept her isolated when she was weak in studies and the science teacher used to beat her when she did not do her homework, which further increased her pain. The girl said in her statement that the teachers had threatened her that they would complain about her to her parents in the parents’ meeting. To avoid this, he tried to commit suicide; he did not think that the matter would become so serious.
