14 Songs In 11 Days! Dhurandhar 2 Director Aditya Dhar Lauds Shashwat Sachdev For ‘Extraordinary’ Work Despite Being Unwell, Sleep-Deprived

Filmmaking is rarely a one-person effort and director Aditya Dhar knows this better than most. As the spy thriller continues to make waves at the box office and on global music charts, Aditya took a moment to step back from all the celebrations and acknowledge the man behind the music, composer Shashwat Sachdev.

In a heartfelt and detailed post shared on social media, the director praised Shashwat for delivering not just quality, but a near-impossible quantity of work, under conditions that would have broken most creative professionals.

Aditya Dhar’s Thank You Note For Shashwat Sachdev

Aditya Dhar director described Shashwat Sachdev, whom he fondly calls Sha, as far more than a professional collaborator. In his own words, he called the composer ‘a younger brother’ and someone he had shared ‘chaos, silence, ideas and some of the most intense creative days’ with.

What made the post stand out was the sheer scale of what Aditya revealed. For Dhurandhar Part 1, Shashwat composed 9 songs in 9 days, completing the entire background score in just 6 days. For Part 2, the numbers were even more staggering, 14 songs in 11 days, with the BGM wrapped up in a remarkable 3 days. Aditya described this achievement as ‘beyond crazy’, adding that what made it even more extraordinary was the emotional depth and consistent quality.

He further noted that both albums, released within a span of three months, reached top global charts with almost every song being widely appreciated.

How The Music For Dhurandhar 2 Came Together

Aditya Dhar also offered a rare glimpse into the working conditions during the music recording phase. For nearly 15 days, his home was transformed into a full-scale studio. Every room served a different purpose, music in the living room, recordings in the bedrooms, and writing sessions on the balconies. Singers and musicians moved in and out around the clock, with workdays stretching to 21 to 22 hours at a stretch.

At the centre of this organised chaos stood Shashwat Sachdev. The filmmaker said the he was ‘holding everything together – creating, composing, guiding, reacting, evolving, all at once’. According to Aditya, there were days when the composer was unwell and running on almost no sleep, yet ‘he still showed up fully, without compromise, without slowing down’.

He reserved a special mention for Magic, Shashwat’s partner, who he described as the anchor who ‘kept things steady’ during the most intense stretches.

Aditya then credited lyricist Irshad Kamil and the broader team for elevating the project further, saying that everyone ‘went into absolute God mode’.
