Raipur, May 12, 2025 – A devastating late Sunday night claimed the lives of 13 people, including nine women and four children , on the Raipur-Balodabazar Road near Saragav village in Chhattisgarh’s Raipur district . A collision between a passenger-laden truck and a trailer resulted in the fatalities, while 12 others sustained injuries and are undergoing treatment.
The accident took place around midnight as a group of villagers was returning home from a family ceremony in Banarsi village. The victims, all from Chatoud village, were traveling in a small truck that collided head-on with a trailer in the Kharoora police station limits.
Emergency Response and Rescue Operation
Raipur Superintendent of Police Lal Umed confirmed the on Monday, stating that 13 individuals died on the spot, and the injured were rushed to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Memorial Hospital in Raipur for immediate medical assistance. “The victims were returning from a ‘Chhathi’ ceremony when the tragedy struck,” he said.
Raipur Gaurav Kumar Singh also arrived at the accident site and assured that the administration is providing all necessary aid. “We received information around 12:00 AM, and rescue teams were mobilized promptly. The injured are receiving treatment, and or logistical support will be extended as needed,” he said.
Casualties and Ongoing Investigation
According to officials, the deceased include:

A case has been registered, and the police have launched an investigation into the cause of the collision. Preliminary findings suggest possible driver negligence or overspeeding, but a detailed probe is underway.
