1,200 Kashmiris and 84 Indian students stranded in conflict zones amid Iran-Israel conflict

New Delhi: The killing of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Khamenei, raised concerns about the safety of Indians stranded abroad. The Iran-Israel conflict mounted the tension all over the world, with travellers going to or from India to major parts, especially the Middle Eastern part, facing problems.

Several Indians showed concerns about the well-being of their near and dear ones, who are stranded in the conflict-hit region. An Indian, Jai Pandey from Jaunpur, told about his brother, who works as the country head of a multinational construction company in Bahrain and is currently safe. His brother informed them about the state of emergency, and the family is afraid, seeing the attack and that the situation might get worse.

Another Lucknow resident, Archana Joshi, is worried about her daughter, who lives in Dubai, and now she is feeling helpless after Dubai’s airport shut down, PTI reported.

Pune’s Indira School of Business Studies (ISBS), which took its 84 students to Dubai for an annual five-day study tour, is also stranded in Dubai. However, the dean of the college confirmed that 40 students were returned to Pune on Saturday, while the remaining were scheduled to board on Sunday.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah confirmed that 32 people from Ballari are also stranded in Dubai. He assured all the appropriate steps would be taken to ensure the safety of the people residing in the Middle Eastern countries.

We must protect those who are stranded there. People have gone there from Kerala, Karnataka, and other states. The Central Government is working to ensure the safety of all of them,” Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar stated.

There are also 1,200 students from Jammu and Kashmir stranded in the Iranian territories. The National Convenor of the J&K Students Association wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi about ensuring the safety of the students and the steps to take in evacuating the students.
