During the Durga idol immersion in Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh, 11 people were killed and 3 injured when a trolley overturned. The government has announced financial assistance for the families and injured of the deceased.

Khandva: During the Durga idol immersion in Jamli village of Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh, a trolley filled with devotees lost 11 people. Khandwa Collector Rishav Gupta said that the bodies of all eleven people have been recovered and they have been sent for postmortem. Three people were injured in the incident, two of whom are now out of danger and are still undergoing treatment due to serious injuries.

Khandwa Collector Rishav Gupta said, “Today an unfortunate incident occurred in Pandhana assembly constituency, where some youths of Rajgarh Panchayat came to immerse the idols in Jamali village. A village officer was on duty on the Jamli pond. He warned them that the water is deep further. The balance of the trolley kept moving and the trolley’s balance deteriorated and he overturned in the trolley. Saved… Our SDRF and Home Guard teams also reached the spot, and the entire administration was present.

He said- “A total of 11 people were missing here, all the bodies whose bodies have been recovered and sent to Pandhana for post-mortem. Three people were also referred to Khandwa, two of which are now out of danger and one is seriously injured and is undergoing treatment”.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed his condolences to the bereaved families and said that Madhya Pradesh would provide financial assistance of Rs 4-4 lakh to the families of the deceased and ensure proper treatment of the injured. CM said, “Accidents during Durga immersion ceremony in Ingoria police station area near Jamli village of Khandwa and Ujjain are very sad. I express my condolences to the bereaved families. I have been instructed to give compensation of Rs 4-4 lakh to the families of the deceased and to provide appropriate treatment to the injured in the nearest hospital.

PM gave 2-2 lakhs to deceased families and 50-50 thousand to injured families

The PMO announced an ex -gratia amount of Rs 2 lakh to the family of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured. Posted, “I was deeply saddened by the deaths in an accident in Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh. In this difficult time, my thoughts are with the affected people and their families. I pray for the early recovery of the injured. The family of each deceased will be given an ex -gratia amount of Rs 2 lakh from PMNRF. The injured will be given Rs 50,000.
