11-0! Harmanpreet Kaur-led India aim to extend perfect record against Pakistan in Women’s ODI World Cup

New Delhi: Harmanpreet Kaur-led India will look to keep their perfect record intact against Pakistan when they take on their arch-rivals in the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 on Sunday. The high-octane clash will be played at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday, October 05. The two teams will be meeting in a women’s ODI for the first time since the last edition of the World Cup in 2022, where India registered a dominant 107-run victory.

Co-hosts India are one of the favourites to win their maiden title in the ongoing edition and began their campaign with a comprehensive victory against Sri Lanka in the tournament opener. India defeated Sri Lanka by 59 runs via the DLS method at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati to kick off their campaign on a winning note.

The top order stumbled, however, gritty half-centuries from Deepti Sharma and Amanjot Kaur in the lower-middle order helped India post a fighting total of 269 runs against Sri Lanka. The bowlers produced an impressive display to bundle out the Islanders for 211 runs and secure a thumping victory for the Women in Blue.

India will look to continue their winning run in the tournament when they lock horns with Pakistan in a blockbuster clash on Sunday. Any contest between the two teams is always an intense affair, involving boiling emotions. However, there has been little contest between the two teams. Much like men’s cricket, the Indian women’s team has also dominated Pakistan across formats.

11-0: India’s perfect record against Pakistan

During the recently concluded men’s Asia Cup 2025, Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav said there was no rivalry left between India and Pakistan after his team defeated their arch-rivals for the second time in the tournament to extend their overall record to 13-3 in T20Is. But is the scenario similar in women’s cricket?

India’s domination against Pakistan in women’s cricket makes even the men’s dominance appear pale in comparison. India have never lost an ODI against Pakistan in women’s cricket, maintaining a perfect head-to-head record of 11-0 in eleven meetings between the two teams. Across ODIs and T20Is, India and Pakistan have met 27 times in women’s cricket.

The Women in Blue have won 24 out of those 27 matches. India thrashed Pakistan by 107 runs when the two teams last met in the ODI World Cup in 2022. Harmanpreet & Co. will hope to extend their flawless record against Pakistan when the two teams square off on Sunday.

After the Indian men’s team’s no-handshake policy against Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025, all eyes will be on the Harmanpreet-led India if they continue the handshake snub against their arch-rivals in their upcoming clash. The Indian men’s team is yet to receive the Asia Cup trophy after refusing to accept it from ACC and PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi.
