A 10 month old girl became the victim of a road accident. He was taken to the hospital, where doctors declared him brain dead. After talking to the doctors, the girl’s parents decided to donate her organs.
Now this girl has become the youngest organ donor in Kerala. Even after death, the girl has given new life to others.
Elin Sherin Abraham, a resident of Mallappally in Pathanamthitta district, was declared brain dead after a tragic road accident. Amidst such grief that one cannot even imagine, his parents decided to donate his organs so that the lives of others could be saved.
Kidney transfer to child in Thiruvananthapuram

Both his kidneys were recovered from S.A.T. associated with Thiruvananthapuram Medical College. A 10-year-old child undergoing treatment in the hospital will be transplanted.
How did the girl die?
The girl was seriously injured in an accident that took place at Pallam on MC Road near Kottayam on the afternoon of February 5. A vehicle coming from the opposite direction hit her and she collided with a car. Elin was traveling with her mother and maternal grandparents at the time of the incident. The girl was first treated at hospitals in Changanassery and Tiruvalla, then admitted to Amrita Hospital in Kochi for better treatment on the night of 6 February.
To ensure timely transplantation process, the organs are being transported by road. State Health Minister Veena George praised the family for this unique work. Expressing his condolences, he said that the parents’ decision to think about the lives of others even at a time of such deep personal grief shows tremendous courage and humanity. He also said that the state government stands with the bereaved family.

Veena George said on her social media page that losing a child is a very sad incident. Yet, by choosing the path of organ donation, Elin Sherin’s parents have turned their personal pain into a ray of hope for families waiting for a life-saving transplant. Their work reflects the growing awareness around organ donation in Kerala and the life-affirming impact such decisions can have.
The minister said that although nothing can compensate for the loss of his daughter, there can be some solace in knowing that her organs will give other children and families a new chance at life. Minister George said that while remembering Elin Sherin, Kerala also remembers the quiet strength of her parents who, in the most difficult times, chose kindness over despair and life over loss.
