1 killed as speeding Innova hits motorbike in Gurugram; accident caught on car’s dashcam

New Delhi: A speeding Innova car hit a motorcycle in Gurugram’s Gwal Pahari area, killing the pillion rider. The accident that took place on Wednesday evening was caught on the SUV’s dashcam.

Mohammad Rashid, originally from Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh, was on a motorcycle with his brother, Shakir when a speeding Innova car hit them from behind as they stopped at a traffic signal near Gwal Pahari on the Gurugram-Faridabad road. Following the collision, Shakir, 50, died while his brother suffered critical injuries.

The dashcam video shows a white Toyota Innova car hitting a motorbike from behind as it stopped at a traffic signal.

Upon receiving information about the incident, Gurugram police arrived at the scene and registered a case against the accused car driver at the DLF Phase 1 police station and began an investigation.

Car hits bike at traffic signal

In his complaint, Rashid said the accident occurred when the speeding Innova car rammed into their motorcycle when they stopped at a red traffic signal. Rashid said he and his brother were going to Dabua Colony in Faridabad.

Around 4:45 pm, when they arrived at the Gwal Pahari CNG pump, there was a traffic jam. Rashid stopped his bike behind a Grand Vitara car. The driver of the Innova, allegedly driving recklessly, hit the bike from behind. The impact was so severe that the bike got crushed between the vehicles in front and behind.

A huge crowd gathered at the scene following the accident. The injured Shakir was immediately rushed to BK Hospital in Faridabad with the help of passersby. However, he succumbed to his injuries during treatment. Rashid, who was driving the bike, also sustained injuries.

A team from the Gwal Pahari police station arrived at the scene after the incident and seized both damaged vehicles. A case has been registered against the driver for rash negligent driving and an investigation has been initiated.
