₹ 2000 is going to come into the accounts of farmers! But first complete this work, before the 22nd installment the government started cleaning the ‘list’.

The 22nd installment of PM Kisan is about to arrive, and looking at past trends, farmers will not have to wait much longer. If we look at the pattern of the last seven years, the government can announce the next installment of Rs 2,000 and credit it in the first or second week of March 2026. Under this scheme, eligible farmers receive Rs 6,000 every year in three equal installments of Rs 2,000 each through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Since its launch on February 24, 2019, the government has released 21 tranches.

What do past trends say?

A look at historical data shows a clear pattern — the first installment of each year is usually credited in January or February.

The first installment of each cycle was released over the years as follows:

2019 (Launch Year) February 24, 2019

2020 (December-March cycle) January 2, 2020

2021 (December-March cycle) December 25, 2020

2022 (December-March cycle) January 1, 2022

2023 (December-March cycle) February 27, 2023

2024 (December-March cycle) February 28, 2024

2025 (December-March cycle) February 24, 2025

This pattern clearly shows that the government usually credits the December-March installments in January or February, and sometimes this continues even till the end of February. This year, the announcement has been slightly delayed compared to the previous cycle. However, looking at the consistent trend, there are strong speculations that the 22nd installment may be released in early or mid March 2026.

Why the delay this time?

The main reason for this seems to be a large-scale re-verification drive. Ahead of the 22nd instalment, the government has intensified verification to ensure that only genuine and eligible farmers get the benefits. Reports suggest that lakhs of names have been removed in the recent round to clean the beneficiary database. During the 21st installment cycle alone, around 70 lakh names were reportedly deleted to remove ineligible beneficiaries.

Main reasons for removing names from PM-Kisan beneficiary list

Incomplete e-KYC

  • Land records are not linked or there is a difference in ownership
  • Aadhaar is not linked to bank account
  • Taking unfair advantage of income tax payers
  • Duplicate entry in same family
  • The objective is to increase transparency and prevent misuse of government money.
  • Necessary check before 22nd installment
  • To receive the upcoming payment of Rs 2,000, farmers will have to ensure:

e-KYC is necessary

  • This is necessary for all registered farmers.
  • Online through OTP on PM-Kisan portal
  • Through face authentication using PM-Kisan mobile app
  • Offline through biometric verification at Common Service Center (CSC)

Land seeding and record matching

  • Your land ownership details should be correctly updated and verified by the state authorities.
  • If the land is not visible in seeding, then go to the local Tehsildar or Block Agriculture Office with the land documents like Khasra or Khatauni.
  • Special scrutiny is being done for those farmers who have purchased land after February 1, 2019.

Farmer ID required

  • In 14 states including Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Bihar, a unique farmer ID is now required for new registration.

Aadhaar-Bank Linking

  • For DBT, your bank account should be linked to Aadhaar and active.
  • Even a small spelling mistake can cause payment failure.

How to check your name in the updated list

  • Go to the official PM-Kisan website.
  • Click on Know Your Status in Farmers Corner.
  • Enter your registration number and captcha code.
  • Check whether: Yes is visible in e-KYC
  • Yes is visible in land seeding
  • Yes is visible in Aadhar Bank Seeding
  • If any of these are showing No, make corrections immediately.

What if you have missed previous installments?

If your name was earlier removed due to incomplete verification, but now you have completed e-KYC and corrected land or Aadhaar details, you may be eligible again. Once your status is resolved and verified by the authorities, further installments can resume. In some cases, pending installments may also be credited after approval, depending on eligibility and verification timeline.

Although the government has not yet officially announced the date of the 22nd installment, the trends of the last seven years clearly show that the payment can be released anytime in the beginning or middle of March 2026. The current delay appears to be related to stringent verification measures aimed at removing ineligible beneficiaries and ensuring the integrity of the scheme.
