Although the main contest in Rajasthan Assembly elections is between Congress and BJP, but BSP and RLP are trying to make it triangular. BSP is trying to become a kingmaker, but due to the warlords through whom Mayawati is dreaming, those dreams seem to be getting thwarted. The leaders on whom BSP had expressed confidence and chosen the path of ‘Ekla Chalo’, are seen bowing before BJP-Congress even before voting.
There are a total of 200 assembly seats in Rajasthan, out of which voting is to be held on 199 seats on November 25, but this time the BSP leaders, who often change camps after winning the elections, have raised both their hands even before the voting. BSP had announced candidates for 196 seats, but even before entering the fray for victory, 9 contenders surrendered before Congress and BJP. In such a situation, how will Mayawati become kingmaker?

9 BSP candidates kneeled down
Eastern Rajasthan is considered to be the stronghold of BSP, from where BSP is successful in winning so many seats every time, due to which the third force has been formed. However, this time the candidates of this area are not confident about their victory. Till now, BSP candidates from 9 assembly constituencies including Civil Line, Hawa Mahal, Adarsh Nagar, Jaisalmer, Pokaran, Sirohi have betrayed the party.
All these 9 contenders of BSP have joined Congress and BJP. It is being said that Congress and BJP are still in contact with many BSP leaders and before voting many more candidates can leave BSP and support Congress and BJP.
BSP is at the forefront in defection
Although Bahujan Samaj Party contests elections wholeheartedly every time, its MLAs do not stay with the party after winning. For example, if we see, in 2018, the party not only contested the elections but also reached the House by winning 6 MLAs of the party, but after the victory, all the BSP MLAs joined the Congress. Something similar was seen in 2008 also, when six BSP MLAs joined Congress.
What are the reasons for the party’s faltering?
BSP is the third largest party in Rajasthan but BSP officials seem to have failed in maintaining internal coordination. Apart from this, some believe that due to lack of access of common party workers to the top leadership, the party is going through a period of instability. In such a situation, Congress and BJP are trying to break the leaders of BSP and make a dent in its vote bank.
