He was part of the Indian Air Force. But he followed his passion and decided to leave the Indian Air Force and work in films. Padmashree director K Balachander made a big contribution in his life. It was Balachander who gave him his first break. He was seen for the first time in the year 1976 in the film Pattina Pravesam. He mostly did Tamil language films. But apart from this, the actor also did films in Malayalam, Hindi and Telugu languages.
Also did Hindi films with Shahrukh-Ranbir Kapoor
Although the actor did more than 400 films but his contribution to Hindi cinema was not much. He was also seen in Ranbir Kapoor’s film Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani and Shahrukh Khan’s Chennai Express. Apart from this, he was also a part of the film Das which was released in the year 2005. This was his Hindi debut film. He had also entered the world of OTT. He was seen in Vijay Sethupathi’s web series Navarsa. Apart from this, he was also seen in the film America Mappillai. He is considered one of the most versatile actors of the South Industry.
