The deceased inspector has been identified as Prabhat Ranjan, a resident of Siwan district. Prabhat Ranjan was posted as police station chief at Garhi police station in Jamui district. He had gone to take action against illegal sand miners on the basis of secret information.

It is being told about the incident that on Tuesday morning, Prabhat Ranjan got secret information that sand smugglers were lifting sand from Mohali Tand river. After this, he along with Home Guard jawan Rajesh Kumar went out for the raid on a bike. Near Maholiyatand, he tried to stop a speeding tractor carrying illegal sand, but the driver did not stop the vehicle and ran away, crushing the police station in-charge and the jawan.

After this, both of them were taken to Jamui Sadar Hospital in critical condition where Dr. Mrityunjay Kumar declared the inspector dead. The Home Guard jawan has been referred to a private hospital after initial treatment. Where his condition is said to be critical. Prabhat Ranjan was a sub inspector of 2018 batch.
