‘Apne 2’, which was stalled after Dharmendra’s death, will now be made as a tribute to him. The story of the film is being rewritten focusing on Sunny and Bobby Deol, in which an attempt is being made to include Dharmendra’s character as well.
Dharmendra, the Heiman of Bollywood, died on 24 November. Due to his departure, the sequel of the film ‘Apne’ was stopped, in which earlier he was in the lead role with his sons Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol. Filmmaker Anil Sharma had earlier confirmed the closure of the project. However, the film’s producer Deepak Mukut recently told that after the death of Dharmendra, he is now reconsidering the story and rewriting it.
Will Dharmendra have a role in ‘Apne 2’?
A few months ago, Deepak, while talking to Mid-Day, had said that Dharmendra expressed immense excitement about working with his sons and grandson Karan. According to Deepak, Dharmendra was very excited about the sequel. One of his wishes was to make ‘Apne 2’ with his children. However, now that Dharmendra is no more, the makers are reworking the script, which will be presented from the perspective of Sunny and Bobby’s characters. Due to absence of Dharmendra, there will be some changes in it. He is working on including Dharmendra’s character in the film in some way or the other.

‘Apne 2’ will be a tribute to Dharam ji
Deepak further said that ‘Apne 2’ is a tribute to ‘Apne 2’. He said, ‘If I can’t make a film with Dharam ji, I can pay my tribute to him through this. ‘Apne 2’ will definitely be made and it will be a tribute to Dharam ji. The producers also clarified that it is continuing the story of the first film, which only introduced Karan as the son of Angad (played by Sunny Deol).
‘Apne’, directed by Anil Sharma, was released in theaters on June 29, 2007. In this film, along with Dharmendra, his sons Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol, Katrina Kaif, Shilpa Shetty and Kirron Kher were in lead roles. You can watch this film on Amazon Prime Video.
