Weather Update: Alert of heavy rain in Chennai, chill will increase from Delhi to Bihar in the north.

Season Update: Along with severe cold in North India, the weather has changed in South India also. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert regarding heavy rain in the capital Chennai after cyclone ‘Ditvah’ hit the coast of Tamil Nadu. The administration has closed schools and colleges in Chennai, Tiruvallur and Kanchipuram districts due to water logging on roads and disruption in traffic due to rain.

Heavy rain warning in Chennai-Tiruvallur

The Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of heavy rain in two districts of Tamil Nadu, Chennai and Tiruvallur, on Tuesday. According to the Meteorological Department, the weather will remain unstable in Chennai and its surrounding areas till December 7 and there is a possibility of moderate to heavy rain. During this period the sky will remain cloudy and it will rain intermittently with thunder. During this period, the day temperature is expected to be around 27 degrees Celsius and the night temperature is expected to be around 23 degrees.

North India will shiver due to severe cold

According to the Meteorological Department, cold has started showing its effect in North India in the first week of December itself. As the days of December progress, the severe cold will start showing its effect in Delhi-NCR. In the coming days the minimum night temperature may go below 5 degrees.

Fog blanket in UP-Bihar

Due to fog in many cities of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, visibility has reduced to just 500 meters in the morning. Dense mist and fog is present in about 23 districts of Bihar. The districts most affected by the fog include Darbhanga, Samastipur, Supaul, Araria, Kishanganj, Purnia, Jamui, Muzaffarpur, Madhubani, Sheohar, West Champaran, East Champaran and Sitamarhi.
