The Election Commission of India has ordered re-polling on November 21 at a booth in Ater assembly constituency of Bhind district of Madhya Pradesh. According to the Election Commission, re-polling has been ordered due to breach of confidentiality as some people had shot a video of the voting on November 17 at the concerned booth in Kishupura. Voting will be held at booth number 3 under polling station number 71 in Kishupura between 7 am to 6 pm.
He said that indelible ink would be applied on the middle finger of the voters. The order for re-polling has been issued by the Election Commission to the District Election Officer.
District Collector and Returning Officer Sanjeev Srivastava said that four members of the polling party have been suspended for breaching confidentiality.
Videography was done at the polling booth
He said that during re-polling, voters will not be allowed to enter the booth with mobile phones and all other rules related to the Model Code of Conduct will be followed. He said that the voting process will be videographed during re-polling.
From Ater, sitting ML and BJP leader Arvind Singh Bhadauria is contesting from former Congress MLA Hemant Katare. According to the Election Commission, voting was held in a single phase on November 17 for all 230 assembly seats of Madhya Pradesh, in which 77.15 percent voting took place. Counting of votes will take place on December 3.
Election Commission’s action on minister’s complaint
In fact, Cooperation Minister and BJP candidate from Ater Assembly Arvind Bhadauria had accused the Election Commission and complained that the booth at polling number 71 of Kishupura village was rigged and the booth was captured.
On the polling day held on 17th November, 89% voting took place at this polling station. Out of 1223 voters of the polling station, 1103 people had voted. Arvind Bhadauria had also sent the video related to booth capturing to the Election Commission along with the complaint. On that basis, the Election Commission has decided to conduct re-voting.
Regarding re-polling, the Election Commission has also issued orders to the officials and all the candidates of Ater Assembly to campaign in the assembly area.
