Assembly elections are being held in Jharkhand. While voting on 43 seats for the first phase has been completed on November 13, voting on 38 seats for the second phase is going to be held on November 20. Before the second phase of voting, the statement of Jharkhand Congress in-charge Ghulam Ahmed Mir has created an uproar in the politics of the state.
BJP’s attack on Congress
In fact, Ghulam Ahmed Mir claimed on Thursday that if his party comes to power, all citizens of the state, whether they are infiltrators or not, will be given gas cylinders for Rs 450. After his statement, BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia gave a strong reaction and called Mir’s statement anti-national.
He said, there is no mother’s son who would snatch away the rights of our tribal brothers and sisters and give them to the infiltrators. Congress and its president Mallikarjun Kharge have not yet refuted this statement. After all, what does Congress want? He further said that Rahul Gandhi and Hemant Soren are maintaining silence on this statement.
Congress engaged in damage control
Defending Ghulam Ahmed Mir on the uproar created after the statement, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha spokesperson Manoj Pandey said, “In the Bharatiya Janata Party’s definition of infiltration, infiltrators mean Muslims. This is the thinking of Bharatiya Janata Party. Regarding this thinking, Ghulam Ahmed Mir has said,
He said that whatever we are promising. According to that promise, people of all religions will get cylinders. In this it will not be seen who is a Hindu and who is a Muslim, everyone will be given a cylinder.
Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee general secretary and media in-charge Rakesh Sinha said, Ghulam Ahmed Mir’s statement has been distorted. Our commitment is to benefit every section of the society. He has said that we will work to provide gas cylinder for ₹ 450 to the last person of the society. Be it any class or person.
