This temple remained submerged in water for 70 years
This ancient temple of Lord Venugopala was once located in Kannambadi village of Mysore, which was built by the Hoysala dynasty in the 12th century. But due to the construction of KRS dam this temple got submerged. This temple remained submerged in water for almost 70 years. When it reappeared after the water level receded, the King of Mysore, Krishnaraja Wadiyar IV, relocated it to a new location, which he named Hausa Kannambadi. Besides, the idol of Lord Venugopal installed here was also installed in the new temple.

The sound of flute is heard in the new temple
The idol of Lord Venugopal installed in the temple is considered very miraculous. That’s why devotees from far and wide come here to visit. Many people have claimed to hear the sound of Lord Krishna’s flute here, but till date no one has been able to solve this mystery. It is said that only those devotees who remember Lord Krishna with true heart can hear the sound of flute.
The temple is being expanded
Years later, the reconstruction of Venugopala temple at Hausa Kannambadi was started in the year 2003, which was completed in 2011. The temple currently visible here is very grand and beautiful. One can be mesmerized by the beautifully carved figures on the roofs, pillars and walls of the temple. Small pavilions and gardens are visible all around the temple, which increases its beauty even more.
