Tulsi Shaligram Marriage rules: According to the calendar, in the year 2025 the holy festival of Tulsi Vivah will be celebrated on Sunday, November 2. This day falls on the Dwadashi date of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month, which is celebrated on the next day of Devuthani Ekadashi. On this day, the marriage of Shaligram form of Lord Shri Vishnu and Mother Tulsi is performed. This marriage is considered a symbol of the beginning of marriage in human society. Even a small mistake made in worship on the day of Tulsi Vivah is considered inauspicious. Therefore, it is important to take special care of some things on this auspicious day. Do not make these mistakes even by mistake in Tulsi-Shaligram marriage?
- Plucking basil leaves: Goddess Lakshmi resides in basil. Plucking leaves on this day is considered an insult. For offering, pluck basil leaves a day in advance and keep them aside.
- It is inauspicious to touch the Tulsi plant in an impure state without taking bath or with dirty hands. This does not give the results of worship.
- Consumption of tamasic food/meat and liquor, this day is extremely satvik and sacred. On this day, maintain complete purity in the house and do not consume tamasic things.
- Going near Tulsi wearing shoes and slippers is considered worshipable. It is considered inauspicious to go near them wearing shoes and slippers or use iron/steel utensils.
- Keeping Shivalinga near Tulsi is a belief that Lord Shiva had killed Tulsi’s husband Shankhachur. Therefore, from the point of view of both Vastu and religion, Shivling should not be kept near Tulsi.
- Fight or tension during marriage: The atmosphere of marriage should be calm, reverent and joyful. Lakshmi-Vishnu energy gets disrupted due to quarrel, discord or noise.
- One should not start the marriage ritual without bathing Lord Shaligram and Tulsi ji with Ganga water or Panchamrit before the marriage puja.
What to do during Tulsi-Shaligram marriage?
Decorate the mandap: In the evening, decorate the worship place or courtyard with rangoli and cow dung. Make a beautiful sugarcane pavilion over the basil pot.
Establishment: Install Lord Shaligram in yellow clothes on one post and Tulsi Mata on the other side.
Auspicious time: Start the puja only at dusk or auspicious time.
make up: Offer red chunri, saree and wedding items (bangles, bindi etc.) to Tulsi Mata. Dress Shaligram ji in yellow clothes and sacred thread.
Tilak and Mala: Apply sandalwood tilak to Shaligram ji and Kumkum/Roli tilak to Tulsi Mata. Garland both of them with flowers.
Forgiveness prayer: At the end of the puja, fold your hands and pray for forgiveness from Tulsi Mata and Shaligram Ji to ensure that you have not committed any mistake unknowingly.
